More than 1,000 Whitewater Valley REMC customers experienced a power outage Friday afternoon, but utility workers quickly restored electricity.

The outage affected 1,128 customers, which was nearly 25 percent of the co-op’s Wayne County customers.

That number was also more than 9 percent of WVREMC’s 12,269 members.

Cambridge City had 329 of 358 REMC customers affected, which is nearly 92 percent.

Centerville had 374 of its 1,215 customers lose power.

Hagerstown was also hard hit, with 312 of 442 customers affected.

Other zip codes impacted were 47331 (1 customer), 47335 (2), 47339 (22), 47345 (55), 47355 (2), 47357 (16), 47370 (3), 47374 (11) and 47393 (1).

Whitewater Valley REMC’s website showed power had been restored to all customers about an hour later.
