NEW CASTLE – Dorothy Mae (Smith) Craig, 87, finished her race, and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ on Saturday, December 29, 2018.

Dorothy was born on August 16, 1931 to Arlie and Helen (Whitehead) Smith. She married Marion Merle Craig on September 16, 1950. She loved being a farm wife, canning, gardening and cooking, using her homegrown fruits. She enjoyed caring for her loved ones and was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend. She especially loved spoiling the grandchildren.

She leaves a legacy of faith and memories to those who survive her. Her children, Melody (Bill) Bowman, Rosalie (Jan) Ekelof, Phyllis (John) Shafer, Richard (Terrie) Craig, Roger (Glenda) Craig and Pamela (Ed) Fleming; grandchildren, Heather (Bruce) Hacker, Honey (Brian) Hunt, Hope (Dale) Longwell, Billy (Wendy) Bowman, Hunter (Jagoda) Brown, Autumn (Alex) Thomas, Emily Shafer, Amanda (James) Puckett, Rachel Shafer (Mike Truex), Brice (Kristina) Craig, Hannah (Cole) Heitzman, Sarah (Andrew) Buroker, Megan Craig (Josh Key), Teanna (Dustin) Garvin, Jordan Fleming (Derek Volgelzang) and McKenzie (John) Salmon; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters Kay (Don) McFarland, Rita (Leslie) Gabbard, Judy Beal and Pat Byrd; a brother, Joe (Mindy) Smith; sisters-in-law, Nona Maiden, Anna Marie Craig and Margaret (Del) Keeling; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; sisters Olive (Gene) Brunner and Jean (Joe) Clark; a brother, Jack Smith and a grandson, Winter Brown.

Visitation will be 12 noon to 2 PM on Friday, January 4, at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Services will follow at 2 PM. Pastor Bob Bishop will officiate. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
