RICHMOND, Ind. – Russell F. Hensley, age 100, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Reid Health.

Born August 19, 1918, in Wayne County, Indiana, to Henry Arthur and Clara A. Smith Hensley, Russell was a life-long resident of this community. He graduated from Morton High School in 1937; attended Earlham College, where he studied economics; and earned a horology degree from Bradley University.

Russell served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired after 42 years of working as an estimator and toolmaker at Belden, Natco, and Knowles Tool. Russell was a member of Webb Lodge No. 24, F. & A.M. for 60 years. He enjoyed traveling, watching the Pacers, using the computer, and golfing, which he played until the age of 92.

Survivors include his daughter, Gwendolynne Blackburn of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandson, Brian Blackburn of Colorado Springs; nieces and nephews, Michael (Kelley) Hensley of Richmond, Larry (Sherry) Hensley of Centerville, Indiana, Elaine (James) Potter of Cambridge City, Indiana, and Linda (Michael) Goldsberry of Kokomo, Indiana; sister-in-law, Sherrie (Fred) Fulton of Centerville; and many friends and special neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Eula Fay Faucett Hensley, who died August 28, 2013; son-in-law, Lloyd Blackburn; parents; and brothers, Robert and Harold Hensley.

Visitation for Russell F. Hensley will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2019, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2019, at Mills Funeral Home, with Pastor Rick Alvey officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
