Alene C. Sutton, age 88, of Richmond, Indiana, died Friday, August 20, 2021, at Reid Health.

Born April 3, 1933, in Mount Vernon, Kentucky, to Johnny I. and Frances Jennings Miller, Alene lived in Richmond most of her life. She worked at Belden Wire & Cable for 10 years and was also a homemaker. Alene enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, tending flowers, and going to yard sales.

Survivors include her children, Eddie (Lisa) May, Phillip May, and Debbie (Dave) Barker, all of Richmond; grandchildren, James and Eddie II; several great-grandchildren, including Ashlee, Devan, and Eddie III; siblings, Geneva Brockman of Sand Gap, Kentucky, Nadine Owens of Richmond, Jim Miller of Mount Vernon, Cecil Miller of Christianburg, Ohio, and Roy Miller of Dublin, Indiana; nieces; nephews; and many special friends and neighbors, including Robert and Betty Murray.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 32 years, Charles J. Sutton, who died May 10, 2004; grandchildren, Phillip May Jr. and Angie May; great-grandson, James Christopher Duff; parents; and brothers, Edward and Thomas Miller.

A private graveside service for Alene C. Sutton will be held at Elkhorn Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
