DUBLIN- Antonio “Tony” Chavez, 70, passed away early Tuesday morning December 26, 2017 at Reid Hospital in Richmond.
Antonio was born in Laredo, Texas on July 10, 1947. He was a graduate of Martin High School in Laredo, Texas. Tony and his family moved to the Dublin community in the mid 1960’s.
He had been employed by Gaar Nursery, Bertsch & Company, J.S. Sweet Construction, MEG, Knipp Construction, Atlas Printing and Carpenter Body Works. He had been a member of the Cambridge City Volunteer Fire Department for over forty years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and anything to do with cars.
Survivors include his spouse of forty years, Barbara Hunt-Chavez; daughter, Jennifer Alyssa Chavez and stepson, Brad (Dana) Hunt all of Dublin; 2 grandsons, Tyler and Bret Hunt; mother, Gregoria (Rodriquez) Chavez of Laredo, TX; 8 siblings, Elba Huerta, Elsa Skyles, Doris Hernandez, Manuel, Jose, Alonzo Gerardo and Raymundo Chavez all of Texas; several nieces and nephews; many friends including his very special friends, John Puckett, Dennis Moore, John Longnecker and Reggie Brooks.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Longino Chavez; 2 brothers, Longino Jr. “Kino” and Alberto Chavez; 1 sister, Elia Enriquez.
Following cremation, the public is invited to attend a celebration of Tony’s life on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. at the Cambridge City Fire Department, 127 W. Maple Street, Cambridge City, Indiana 47327.
