Arlo Hall, age 69, of Fountain City, Indiana, died Monday, September 13, 2021, after living courageously with cancer since 2017. He lived every day the best he could with a gracious spirit.
Arlo was born on January 7, 1952, in Richmond, Indiana, to Leonard and Zula Hall. He graduated from Olney Friends Boarding School in Barnesville, Ohio, in 1970 and earned his machinist journeyman’s card through Ivy Tech Community College in Richmond. Arlo married his best friend and life partner, Leslie Beals Hall, in 1984. They enjoyed camping and boating together. Arlo retired as a fabricator from Steven’s Wire in 2019, a job he really loved. Arlo also worked several seasons at the Middlefork Reservoir. He was a lifelong member of First Friends Meeting in Richmond, where he served in many capacities and sang in the choir for many years. Arlo dearly loved this church and its members. He was also a member of the Richmond Senior Community Center and Richmond Conservation Club. Arlo was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed doing wood carvings. He loved to fish and liked cars.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Leslie; sisters, Karen Hall O’Brien of Bellville, Indiana, and Iris Johnston of Brunswick, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Lynn Beals of Fountain City and Laura Beals Beeler and family of Peru, Iowa; brother-in-law, Bob Jacques of Hemet, California; and several nieces and nephews, who he deeply loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gweneth Jacques; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Carol Beals; and brother-in-law, Robert Beals.
A Celebration of Life for Arlo Hall will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
