A Cambridge City woman is among the cast members for Richmond Civic Theatre’s “Calendar Girls” play being performed this weekend.
The show is based upon a true story featured in a 2003 British movie.
When Annie’s husband dies of leukemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for the local hospital by persuading four more “women of a certain age” to join them in posing for a fundraising “alternative” calendar.
The calendar is a success, but their friendship is also put to the test in what theater officials call a delightful new comedy.
Tammy Austin of Cambridge City plays the role of Celia, one of the women who poses for the calendar.
Austin said she’s “thankful to be a part of this beautiful production at RCT” and especially enjoys “the beautiful relationships between the ‘glorious’ women of the Women’s Institute.”
She said an “awesome cast and crew helped bring this heartwarming story to life.”
Shows take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25-Saturday, Oct. 26, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27 at Richmond Civic Theatre, 1003 E. Main St., Richmond.
