B.C. Emmons, age 83, of Richmond, Indiana, died Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Reid Health after a brief illness.
B.C. was born October 18, 1934, in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, to Addison and Ida Curtis Emmons. He returned to Richmond after serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. B.C. owned and operated Emmons Barber Shop for several years before starting his long career in real estate. He started selling real estate at Whalen Realty before going to Lingle Real Estate. B.C. then opened his real estate appraisal office and enjoyed doing appraisals until he retired in 2000.
B.C. and his wife enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the world, including all seven continents. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and watching NASCAR. B.C. was a member of the American Legion Harry Ray Post #65 and S.O.S. (Seniors on Scooters), and was a longtime active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
B.C. will be greatly missed by Sandy Lawrence Emmons, his wife of 30 years; children, Steven (Renee) Emmons of Boston, Indiana, Mark (Robin) Baker of Richmond, Debby (Bob) Sizemore of Richmond, and Carole Ann (Scott) Kramer of Centerville, Indiana; grandchildren, Laura (fiancé, Jon Drutowski) Harsh, Joshua McDonald, Lindsay McDonald, Curtis Kramer, Stacy Robertson, and Stephanie Murphy; five great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Ann (Chester) Parks of Williamsburg, Indiana; mother-in-law, Donna Lawrence of Richmond; sister-in-law, Nancy Harmer of Richmond; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother; father and step-mother, Dorothy Emmons; infant sister; and father-in-law, Glen Lawrence.
Visitation for B.C. Emmons will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 121 South 18th Street, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert C. Meckley officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
