Obituaries - Betty Jane Martin

RICHMOND, Ind. – Betty Jane Martin, age 94, of Richmond, Indiana, died Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Forest Park Health Campus.

Born August 1, 1923, in Richmond, Indiana, to Elbert Homer and Dorothy Mae Shannon Ramey, Betty was a life-long resident of this community. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1941 and attended Earlham College. Betty was a housewife, who worked as a secretary at Nettle Creek Industries, Earlham College, and other businesses. She was a creative artist who excelled in many forms of art. Betty was a life-long member of West Richmond Friends Meeting. She loved to knit, crochet, read, work crossword and Sudoku puzzles, watch TV, and spend time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Davis of Centerville, Indiana; son, Michael Robert (Barbara) Martin of England; grandchildren, Melisa, Patrick, Laura, and Molly; seven great-grandchildren; brother, William (Marilyn) Ramey of Bloomington, Indiana; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clyde Martin; parents; and sisters, Norma Berry and Janice Kinder.

A memorial service for Betty Jane Martin after the manner of Friends will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2017, at West Richmond Friends Meeting, 609 West Main Street, Richmond with Pastor Brian C. Young officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
