RICHMOND, Ind. – Betty Lou Mayberry, age 87, of Richmond, Indiana, died Saturday, January 26, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born August 2, 1931, in Richmond, Indiana, to Albert and Pauline Wilcox Hackman, Betty was a lifelong resident of Richmond. She was a 1949 graduate of Richmond High School. Betty worked in insurance for 30 years at INA/Cigna and ACE USA, retiring as a manager in 1992. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and many clubs.

Survivors include her son, James “Jay” (Jana) Mayberry II of Richmond; four grandchildren, Bethany (Brian) Chambers, Michael (Jenny) Mayberry, Joshua Mayberry, and Shawn (Heidi) Lahrman; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Vosmeier of Centerville, Indiana, and Alberta Lanman of Angola, Indiana; brothers, Gary Hackman of Richmond and Larry Hackman of Palm Coast, Florida; nieces; nephews; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James R. Mayberry, who died May 12, 2006; daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Robert Lahrman; and parents.

Visitation for Betty Lou Mayberry will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2019, at St. John Lutheran Church, 501 South 7th Street, Richmond with Pastor Joyce Gerwing-Grimm officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
