Lifelong resident of Hagerstown, Bob Forrest, 87 years young, passed very peacefully Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Bob was born at home on the farm May 24, 1930, to Opal May (Laudig) and Claude Leon Forrest.
He grew up on the farm, graduated from Hagerstown High School. Bob had 2 loves of his life, his family and basketball. He played basketball for Butler in the season of 48-49, then transferred and played a short stint with Florida Southern. He graduated from Ball State with a Bachelors of Education and taught business classes at Webster High School, where he also coached basketball for 2 years (1956 – 1958).
Bob and his wife Janel (Seffrin) were married in November of 1953. Beginning in 1959, Bob began his career with Perfect Circle/Dana; retiring as Quality Control Manager in 1988. After retiring, Bob went back to farming for his love of the land. He and Janel (and Gus their dog) spent winters in Florida and traveling in their RV.
Bob is survived by his daughter Claudia and son J. Robert, grandchildren include Joshua, Alex and Ben Forrest, Nathan (and Jonah) Miller, Graham (and Erika) Miller and Allison Miller. Bob’s first grandson Jason Forrest preceded him in death. Bob has 3 great-grandchildren with #4 on the way.
There will be a memorial for Bob set at a near future date.
