A 16-year-old boy was shot in the hand inside a Richmond home after a bullet passed through an air conditioner.

At about 3:17 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, Richmond Police Department responded to 208 Pearl St. on the city’s northwest side in response to a person who had been shot.

During the initial investigation, it was determined that a bullet had passed through an air conditioning unit and struck a 16-year-old male inside 208 Pearl St.

The teen was transported to Reid Health for treatment of a hand injury.

Lt. Brandon Cappa said the initial investigation revealed that 202 Pearl St. also had been struck by gunfire.

Cappa said an active investigation continued as of Monday night, and anyone with information is urged to contact RPD’s Investigative Services Division at (765) 983-7247.
