Carl F. Bergen, 79, of Connersville, died Friday morning, May 24, 2019, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
A Fayette County native, Carl was born September 7, 1939 to George Walter and Juanita Imogene Rowe Bergen. In 1958, he graduated from Harrisburg High School. Carl was married at the Baptist Temple on September 26, 1987 to the former Jody Bills whom he met while enjoying their passion for dancing. In 1997, Carl retired from Ford Electronics as a mechanical engineer where he had been employed for thirty-one years. He loved woodworking, carpentry and could fix anything. Carl was a former member of the Moose Lodge. He was always eager to help others regardless of their need.
Carl is survived by his wife, Jody; his children: Belinda Bergen and Lisa of Connersville, Misha Bergen of Monticello, Bret Bergen of Connersville, Stacy Weiler and Gary of Noblesville, Russ Mengedoht, Jeremy Bergen and Autumn Mengedoht, all of Connersville; his grandchildren: Kyle Anderson of Indianapolis, Zack Weiler and Jacob Weiler, both of Noblesville; Tyler Bergen and Bailey Bergen, both of New Castle; Bentley Roberts of Connersville; nephews: George Bergen of California and Joe Bergen of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his brother: Danny Bergen and his grandson: Christian L. Bergen.
Funerall services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Rev. Robert E. Lee officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 p.m. Tuesday until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made at the funeral home to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
