Carl J. Mundell, age 99, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle, Indiana.

Born June 26, 1921, in Markleville, Indiana, to Everett and Ella Cole Mundell, Carl lived in Markleville and Fishers, Indiana, before moving to Richmond in 2006. He flew B-52 Bombers for the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. Carl retired from General Motors after working in the model shop as a tool and die maker for more than 30 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and had been a member of the Grand Lodge of Indiana F. & A.M. for over 50 years. Carl was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a kind and considerate man, who never met a stranger. Carl was a great husband.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Mavis Bickerstaffe Mundell; daughter, Carla Kochel of Fort Myers, Florida; son, Alan Mundell of the Philippines; stepdaughters, Vickie (Ken) Cassel of Cambridge City, Indiana, and Sandra (Bill) Brown of Richmond; grandchildren, James Crowder, Alan J. Mundell, Ginger McBride, and Kiely Mundell; and step-grandchildren, Kelly Miller, Lori Cohee, and Kevin Miller.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Mundell; stepson, Stephen Reid; parents; and sister, Norma Hilton.

Visitation for Carl J. Mundell will be from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2021, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3333 Backmeyer Road, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 10:45 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2021, at the church with Bishop Scott Lee and Elder Jeff Baker officiating. Please plan to wear your own mask in the church. Entombment will be in the Earlham Memorial Mausoleum with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
