Carolyn S. Rayburn, 81, Dublin, passed away Wednesday morning September 22, 2021 at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana. A daughter of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Rogers) Moistner, Carolyn was born near Bentonville, Indiana on February 14, 1940. Carolyn lived most of her life in the Straughn and Cambridge City communities and graduated from Straughn High School with the class of 1958. She was a member of the American Legion Post 169 Women’s Auxiliary and held various offices with the organization locally and in the district. She was also a member of the 8 & 40 Auxiliary. Carolyn’s family would like to say “THANK YOU” to the caregivers she had throughout her illness.

Survivors include 6 children, Eddie Herbert Jr., Susan (Doug) Dixon, Eric (Melissa) Triplitt, Bobby (Kira) Rayburn, Becki Reed and Grey Rayburn; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Les (Betty) Moistner; sister in-law, Carrie Moistner; son in-law, Merle DeBruler; her best friend, Nancy Roberts; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years at the time of his passing on April 5, 2013, Gordon Robert Rayburn; children, Sandra DeBruler and Donald Leroy Herbert; grandson, Brantley Leon Taber; siblings Anna Mae Smith, William “Bill” and Paul Moistner and Linda Wilson; son in-laws, Gary Reed, Don Smith and Gail Wilson.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 2 p.m. on Monday September 27, 2021 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Carolyn’s nephew, Tracy Moistner and friend, Larry McDaniel will officiate. Private graveside services will be at West Side Cemetery in Milton.
