James H. Gilmore

James H. Gilmore, age 85, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away peacefully following a short illness Monday, July 26, 2021, at his home. Born December 8, 1935, in Richmond, Indiana, to Clarence and Helen Downing Gilmore, Jim lived in Wayne County, Indiana, most of his life. He graduated from Webster High School in 1954. Jim was in the U.S. Army and served in Germany in 1955. He retired as a manager at Koorsen Protection Services.

Janet Joan Burch

Janet Joan Burch, age 88, of Richmond, Indiana, died Saturday, July 24, 2021, at her home. Born July 6, 1933, in Richmond, Indiana, to Walter and Ruth Garrett Johns, Janet was a life-long resident of this community. She earned a dental assistant degree. Janet worked for Merle Norman Cosmetics for 13 years and had also worked at Hoffco. Additionally, she operated her own craft business, Lasting Impressions, for many years and was well known at the Christmas Village in the Kuhlman Center and other area festivals.

James P. “Jim” Lees

James P. “Jim” Lees, 91, of Richmond, passed away July 25, 2021, at Reid Health after a short illness. He was born April 1, 1930, in Richmond to Edward and Virginia Jones and lived here most of his life. He and June were the owners of Lees Wallpaper. Jim was a Marine Corp. veteran.

Janice Sue Richardson

Janice Sue Richardson, age 89, of Centerville, Indiana, died Monday, July 26, 2021, at Friends Fellowship Community. Born July 20, 1932, in Daleville, Indiana, to Ralph and Lucile Wright Heath, Janice lived in Wayne County, Indiana, most of her life. She graduated from Daleville High School in 1950 and attended Ball State University and IU East for two years. Janice worked in the office at Excel Manufacturing Corporation in Muncie, Indiana, for 10 years before marrying Alva Richardson of Centerville, Indiana, on August 8, 1959. She later worked in the office at Centerville Senior High School for 18 years (1971-1989).

Helen Elizabeth (Dann) VanDevender

Helen Elizabeth (Dann) VanDevender, age 98, an Indianapolis resident, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 6, 1923 a daughter of Mary Jane (Anderson) McIntyre and James C. Cranley. Helen was raised by her grandparents, Flora and Sanford Anderson in Mays, Indiana. She graduated from Mays High School in 1941 and attended Central Normal College in Danville, Indiana. She was employed at Chrysler Corporation’s Personnel Office in New Castle.

Betty Lou Garrison

Betty Lou Garrison, 92, of Connersville passed away Friday, July 23, 2021 at Reid Health of Richmond following a short illness. She was born at the family home in Connersville on December 25, 1928, one of four daughters of Fred Willis and Charlotte Pearl “Sweetie” Huber Cole. Betty was a graduate of Laurel High School and later she graduated from the Anderson Beauty School in Richmond. On February 14, 1947, Betty was married at the 4th Street Presbyterian Church in Connersville to William Howard Garrison Jr. Mr. Garrison passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 1952. After her husband’s death, she became both a devoted mother and father to her children.

Rosemarie Wuertemberger

Rosemarie Wuertemberger, age 90, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Reid Health. She was born on November 14, 1930, to Edward and Lucy Cable Kruckeberg. “Rosie”, as she was known to family and friends, grew up in Versailles, Ohio, before moving with her family to Boston, Indiana, where she attended Boston High School through graduation. Rosie was a cheerleader and active in school-related activities. After high school, she worked at Wayne Dairy where she met Paul Wuertemberger.

Elmora Joyce Neal

Elmora Joyce Neal, 87, of Hagerstown, died Monday, July 19, 2021 at
Stonebrooke Rehab Center, New Castle. She was born in New Castle on March 14, 1934 to Dick and Etta (Purvis) Rains and was a life long resident of the area. Survivors include 4 granddaughters, Jennifer Neal, Jessica Neal, Darla Neal Murphy and Dawn Neal Martinez; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Rains
Garvin and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wandle L. Neal; a son, Wandle Dick Neal; a brother, Tommy Rains and a sister, Betty King. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Brick Cemetery.

Michael Eugene Reynolds

Michael Eugene Reynolds, 72, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021, after a 3 year battle of stage 4 lung cancer. Michael was born on April 7, 1949, to Walter G and Margaret (Harris) Reynolds in Winchester Indiana, and was a lifelong Fountain City resident and attended Hopewell Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Fountain City High School in 1967. On March 31, 1973, he married Sandra Lee Julien. He was the founder of Reynolds Plumbing (1983) along with his wife Sandy.

Marcella M. Baumer

Marcella M. Baumer, age 91 of Richmond, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday July 23, 2021 at Reid Hospital while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Richmond, Indiana on March 25, 1930 to Glen and Clytice Wysong Hartrum and had lived in the area all of her life. She married the love of her life Joseph Baumer in St. Andrews Catholic Church on February 9, 1952. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, YMI Auxillary, YMI bowling team and enjoyed bowling at Do Re Mi Bowling Alley.
