Jason Duane Terhaar

Jason Duane Terhaar, 38, of Richmond Passed away May 23, 2020. He was born July 13, 1981 in Richmond to Cindy Rhoades and lived in Estes Park, Colorado until 2006 when he moved back to Richmond. Jason loved spending time with his nieces and he loved animals. He is survived by his grandfather Joe Terhaar Sr., his mother, two brothers JP Rhoades of Estes Park, Colorado, Christopher Rhoades of Dublin, one sister Chari (Matt) Lexow of Omaha, Nebraska, five nieces Tekayla Stuart, Hayden Lexow, Madison Rhoades, Paityn Rhoades, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother and maternal grandparents.

Gerald Gilliam Sublett

Gerald Gilliam Sublett, 86, of New Castle, and formerly of Indianapolis, died early on the morning of Sunday, May 24, 2020, at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center. He was born on January 18, 1934, in Indianapolis, Indiana, a son of the late Ben Eugene and Lucille Sublett. Gerald joined the US Marine Corps at age 17 and served during the Korean War. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Miami University. He owned several businesses and worked for Chrysler Corporation and Naval Avionics.

Dale Alan Batt

Dale Alan Batt, 63, of New Castle passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born November 28, 1956 in New Castle to the late Howard and Donna (Gordon) Batt. He was a veteran of the US Army where he was stationed in Kansas. Dale had been employed at Auto Car Corp.

Mary Elizabeth Hunt

Mary Elizabeth Hunt, 64, passed away Tuesday evening May 19, 2020 at Hickory Creek Healthcare in New Castle, Indiana. A daughter of the late Albert V. and Wilma F. (Dorgan) Cole, Mary Elizabeth was born in Muncie, Indiana on April 30, 1956. She was a graduate of Tri High School and attended Ball State University. Mary Beth lived most of her life in the Cambridge City area and was an avid collector of antiques and glass figurines. She was a former member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and had attended the First United Methodist Church in Cambridge City.

Joseph W. Russell

Joseph W. Russell, born on October 27, 1927, in Brownstown Indiana, died due to an extended illness at his residence at Friends Fellowship Community in Richmond Indiana on May 20, 2020 at the age of 92. Joseph graduated from Brownstown High School and attended Indiana Central College. He also had an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy as Seaman First Class in Bainbridge MD. He was a District Manager for Colonial Life & Accident for many years. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Hartley Hills Golf Course in New Castle, Indiana.

Frederick “Fred” C. Abernathy

Frederick “Fred” C. Abernathy, 63, of Liberty, passed away on May 19, 2020 while a patient at Reid health in Richmond, IN. Fred was born on August 7, 1956 in Connersville, IN and is the son of the late Mervin and Evelyn (Eschelman) Abernathy. On June 6, 1976, he married Susie Gross. They shared nearly 44 years of marriage together. Fred had been a truck driver for many years.

Charles K. Robinson

Charles K. Robinson, Jr., 91 years old, died peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at his home in Pompano Beach, FL. A native of Richmond, IN, he was born on August 2,1928 and was the great-great grandson of Francis W. Robinson who established Robinson Machine Works in Richmond in 1842. He was president and chairman of the board of Swayne, Robinson and Co. from 1970 until it closed in 1997. Until it’s closing it was known as the longest family-owned business in America.

Joe Anne Radigan

Joe Anne Radigan, age 82, of Richmond, Indiana, died Thursday, May 21, 2020, at Reid Health. Joe Anne was born on July 22, 1937, in Greenville, Ohio, to Richard Andrew and Mary Ellen Hagarman Kiser. She was a 1955 graduate of Greenville High School. Joe Anne moved to Wayne County, Indiana, in 1970. She formerly worked at Huffy Manufacturing.

Erma I. Swift

Erma I. Swift, 86, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at her home, with her family by her side. She was born on June 6, 1933, in Albany, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Claude and Callie (Cooper) Sidwell. Erma was a true example of a Proverbs 31 woman. She loved the Lord, loved her family and loved others. She enjoyed music, singing in the choir and playing the piano at her church.

Jerry D. Ballenger

Jerry D. Ballenger, 82, of New Castle, passed away Friday, May 22, 2020 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born January 20, 1938 in New Castle, a son of the late Samuel D. and Emma (Pryor) Ballenger. Jerry retired from Chrysler Corp. in New Castle in 2001 following 33 ½ years of service. While there, he served the last several years as the Safety Representative for UAW Local #371.
