Charles “Charlie” Marvin Peed, 88, of West Liberty, OH passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the Hospice of Dayton. He was born on October 1, 1933 in New Castle, a son of the late George and Mildred (Pierce) Peed.
Charlie grew up as a child in Mooreland, IN and lived there until he moved to Noblesville with his wife of 50 years, Mabel Peed. Following Mabel’s passing, Charlie married his current wife, Sharon (Casteel Peed); they continued to reside in Noblesville until relocating to West Liberty, OH.
Charlie retired from Delco Remy in Anderson following 42 years of service. He loved church and was a former member of the Blountsville Congregational Christian Church and was currently a member of the Urbana Church of Christ in Christian Union, OH. He had served as a Sunday School teacher over the years. Charlie had a love and passion for horses; from the age of six, Charlie raised and showed horses. He was a member of the Henry County Saddle Club and following retirement, he volunteered at the Saddle Cub cleaning and performing various duties.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Sharon Peed of West Liberty, OH; children, Jackie (Delicia) Peed of Cincinnati, OH, Terry (Steve) Burgess of Cincinnati, OH and Carol (Jon) Giddings of New Castle; grandchildren, Ryan King of Daleville, Randy (Brandi) King of Selma, Elizabeth Peed of Indianapolis, Emily Burgess of New York, NY, Trevor Giddings and Amanda Giddings; great grandchildren, Riley, Brennen, Reeceton, Reid, Mason, Michael, Chase, Aubrey, Brayden and Brody; sister, Phyllis Hicks of Goshen; step-children, Jerald Votaw, Brian Votaw, Keith Votaw and Jeralyn Tharp and their children; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel Peed; brothers, James, Jerry and Robert; sisters, Mary Werking and Betty Hoover.
Services will be at 1:00pm Wednesday April 27, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow at Batson Cemetery.
