After providing free meals for three months to local residents, one change has been made for April after an analysis of numbers.
Because of low participation in East Germantown/ Pershing, a pickup site has been dropped in that community, and one more is being offered in Cambridge City.
Prepared meals are prepackaged in carry-out containers and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The weekly average pick up has been eight meals. The weekly average delivery is 35 meals.
Those who want a meal delivery are asked to contact Scott Powell at (765) 541-2814.
The April menu features chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll and a fruit cup. Western Wayne residents are welcome at each location each week.
Serving sites are:
• April 4: The Old Tin Roof, 114 W. Main St., Cambridge City
• April 11: Dublin Public Library, 2249 Cumberland St, (U.S. 40), Dublin
• April 18: Milton Fire Department, 200 E. Walnut St., Milton
• April 25: First United Methodist Church, 238 W. Main St., Cambridge City
Donations of 20 pounds of potatoes, 50 rolls and five bags of egg noodles will be prepared each week.
Powell said the project’s greatest need at this point is the utility cost for electricity. The church is currently paying $170 a month to run two industrial-size freezers.
