RICHMOND, Ind. – Christine E. Hatley McCallister Helms, age 88, of Richmond, Indiana, died Saturday, October 5, 2019, at Reid Health.
Born June 10, 1931, in Kentucky, to Jesse and Viva Mae Collins Hatley, Christine moved to Richmond 40 years ago from Virginia Beach, Virginia. She retired from Huffy Corporation after many years of service. Christine then worked for Ryan’s Restaurant. She had volunteered for Circle U for 3 years. Christine enjoyed working in the yard, sewing, and building birdhouses.
Survivors include her children, Dennis D. Helms Sr. of Richmond, Viva (Wray) Macy of Cedar City, Utah, Pauletta (Jerald) Jordan of Richmond, and Cynthia R. Helms of Edwardsburg, Michigan; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Alice (John) Sweigart of New Castle, Indiana; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Raymond Clarence and Donald A. Helms Jr.; parents; and sisters, Linda K. Pfoutz and Rosie McCracken.
Services for Christine E. Hatley McCallister Helms will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
