Cynthia Allien McKinney, age 59, went home to be with our Lord and Savior following a six-year battle with cancer on May 15, 2022. She was born January 4, 1963, the daughter of Richard “Dick” and Patricia DeSonie, in Troy, Ohio.
Cynthia was a resident of Wayne County and had worked at Richmond Baking Company and done construction work with her brothers. She loved to garden, doing interior designing in her own home, and turning others trash into treasures. She loved her dogs and always loved helping others. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother: Patricia DeSonie; children: Johnny McKinney, Amber McKinney, and Robert “Bobby” McKinney (Katia); grandchildren: Faith, Breanna, Cameron, Dylan, Skyler, Zachary and Caleb McKinney, Trevor (Shirley) and Trenton (Brylynn) James; great grandchildren: Dominic and Journey James; brothers: Derek (Diane) DeSonie, Eric DeSonie (Kellie), and Tom (Debbie) DeSonie; sisters: Judy (Marion) Rhodus, Tina (Daniel) Seldate, Sophia (Randy) Herron, and Delores (Darrin) Sparks; a special friend: Kevin Mallott; many special nieces and nephews whom she loved very much and her dog, Olivia.
She is preceded in death by her father: Richard “Dick” DeSonie; her husband: Brian McKinney; and two nieces: Ladonda McLaughlin and Ashley Sparks.
Funeral services will be held at Community Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 11:00 AM. Family and friends may visit the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
