Daniel R. Greene, of New Castle, passed away early Thursday morning, June 2, 2022, at The Waters of New Castle.

He was born April 30, 1947, in Richmond, Indiana, a son of the late Carl Columbus and Ida Isabella (Honaker) Greene.

Dan grew up in Cambridge City and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965. He was a 1970 graduate of the Indiana School of Mortuary Science. In 1974, Dan became a part-owner of Fisher – Greene Mortuary in Cambridge City, and in 1978 he purchased the Faucett Funeral Home in Knightstown and operated it as Greene’s Funeral Home for 32 years. Along with the funeral home, he owned and operated Greene’s Ambulance Service. Dan enjoyed the outdoors, boating and fishing, and vacationing in Florida. He had been an active member of the Knightstown Golden Rule Lodge #16 F&AM, Knightstown Kiwanis Club, Indiana Funeral Directors Association, and the Knightstown Chamber of Commerce.

Dan is survived by two sons, Darren Greene of Knightstown and Jason (Brenda) Greene of Spiceland; four grandchildren, Lindsey Greene (Justin Prunty), Stephenie Greene (Ricky Hall), Blayne Greene (Marce Forrest), and Justin Greene (Bre Butler); great-grandchildren, Evan Parsley, Abigail Hall, Selene Prunty, Easton Greene, and Blair Greene; two sisters, Rebekah “Becky” (Harold) Robbins-Hacker and Dorothy “Dottie” Long both of New Castle, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters, Margaret Dalrymple, Marjorie Fewell, Betty Freeburg, Virginia Mercer, Naomi Huffman, and Lora Farlow, and two brothers, Johnny Greene and Edward Greene.

Services will be held privately with burial in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
