Obituaries - David B. Gray

RICHMOND, Ind. – David B. Gray, age 62, of Richmond, Indiana, died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 3, 2017, while doing what he loved most, deer hunting.

Born May 22, 1955, in Richmond, Indiana, to Lester Leroy and Ida Merritt Gray Sr., David was a life-long resident of Richmond.

He was a 1974 graduate of Richmond High School, where he played football. David formerly worked at the Richmond Baking Company, Spartech Plastics, Webb’s Antique Mall, and Kemper Cabinets in Richmond. He was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting. David collected and sold antiques. He had a wonderful sense of humor. David dearly loved his family and being a grandpa. He also loved his friends and cats.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Barbara Whitehead Gray of Richmond; son, Nathan (Taria) Gray of Richmond; grandson, Ayden; sister, Terri J. (Dean) Wuertemberger of Charlotte, North Carolina; brothers, Arthur W. (Barbara) Gray of Richmond and Steve E. (Diana) Gray of Centerville, Indiana; sister-in-law, Debbie Gray; nieces; nephews; other extended family members; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathryn V. Freeman; brother, Lester L. Gray Jr.; brother-in-law, John W. Freeman Jr.; and niece, Serena R. Gray.

Visitation for David B. Gray will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2017, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2017, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. James L. Girdley officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
