David L. Scott, age 80, of Richmond, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at Reid Health.
Born April 22, 1938, in Economy, Indiana, to James and Thelma Pilcher Scott, David lived in Wayne County most of his life. He attended Fountain City schools, where he played basketball. David served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1960. He retired as a superintendent of construction for Shook Construction in 2003 and formerly worked at Palco Construction. David was an active member of First Baptist Church in Richmond, teaching Sunday school and leading a Bible study. He was a member of the Carpenters Union and was a member and coach for the Richmond Evening Optimist Club for many years. David enjoyed gardening, hunting, wood turning, and wood working.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Linda Kanipe Scott; daughter, Jenny (Will) Adams of Richmond; son, John (Sherrie) Scott of Carmel, Indiana; grandsons, Kyle and Bryan Scott of Carmel; sisters, Sharon (Jim) Funkhouser of Ohio and Cathy Kildow of Lynn, Indiana; brothers, Jim Scott Jr., Jerry (Carol) Scott, and Ronnie (Judy) Scott, all of Richmond; nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles; cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in law, Evelyn Scott; and brother-in-law, Jim Kildow.
Visitation for David L. Scott will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2018, at First Baptist Church, 1601 South A Street, Richmond with Rev. Phillip Hodgkin officiating. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery in Fountain City.
