Deborah Ann Scott, 53, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 16, 1967 in Leavenworth, KS, the daughter of Jay Richard and Carol Ann (Card) Jones.

She graduated from high school in Sturgis, Michigan and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University in 1989. She then earned a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Ball State University in 1991 and a Master’s degree in Spanish from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2017. She taught at Morton Memorial High School in Knightstown for 20 years, Providence Cristo Rey High School in Indianapolis, Liberty Christian High School for 7 years and New Castle High School for 2 years. She was a sister of Phi Mu-Rho Delta Chapter Sorority at Central Michigan University.

A member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Castle, she enjoyed scrapbooking, sewing, lighthouses, hummingbirds, the desert southwest and collecting Teddy Bears. She also enjoyed Classic Rock and Christian music.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of over 25 years, David James Scott of New Castle, whom she married on May 20, 1995 at the First Presbyterian Church in New Castle; two children, Jenna Ann Scott of Indianapolis and Ryan David Scott of New Castle; her parents, Jay Richard and Carol Ann (Card) Jones of San Tan Valley, AZ; a brother, Kenneth Richard Jones of Mesa, AZ.

Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church in New Castle with Reverend Rod Smith officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
