Delores “Maxine” Wilson, 93, of Sulphur Springs, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at her residence. She was born September 11, 1927 in New Castle, Indiana, a daughter of the late Henry Hunter and Beatrice Pearl (Cook) Carter.

She was a 1946 graduate of New Castle High School. She retired from Shenandoah School Corporation, where she worked in the cafeteria. Maxine was a member of Sulphur Springs Christian Church. She was always taking care of someone during their time of need. Up until about a year ago, Maxine rode her bike around Sulphur Springs delivering donuts to shut-ins and handing out suckers to the kids. Maxine and her husband, Lyle wintered in Florida for 17 years, where they were active in the church there and sang in the choir. She and Lyle enjoyed playing golf together and they thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Maxine loved being part of her Bridge Club and playing cards.

She leaves to cherish her memory, five children, Kerry (Dana)Wilson of Jeffersonville, Teresa (Jim) Hornaday of Middletown, Vanessa Wilson of Sulphur Springs, Jack (Chris) Wilson of Pendleton and Tammy (Rick) Harter of Middletown; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Kathryn Cashdollar; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, David and Marsha Gratner of Sulphur Springs.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, of 65 years, Byron Lyle Wilson; granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Wilson; grandson, Alex Lee Harter; and siblings, Kenneth Carter, Wayne Carter, Janet Lawson and Pauline Pheffer Bolton.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Sulphur Springs Christian Church with Pastor C.J. Buskirk officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
