Donald E. Coblentz, age 93, of New Paris, OH passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at his residence. He was born on December 16, 1928 in Preble County, OH to the late Walter Charles and Cecile Dean (Brown) Coblentz. He was a 1946 graduate of Jefferson High School; and was U.S. Navy Veteran that served during WWII.
Donald married Rose Ann Reid in 1948. He retired from the U.S. Post office as a rural mail carrier; was a farmer; and drove a school bus for C.R.Coblentz Schools for many years. He was also a Jefferson Township Trustee for many years. He dearly enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Harold Coblentz, Verlin D. Coblentz and infant Frederick C. Coblentz; and sisters Loretta “Dodo” Brown and infant Doris H. Coblentz. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Rose Ann Coblentz; children: LeeAnne (John Jr.) Shaffer, Ted Coblentz and Jo Ellen (Kurt) Swihart; grandchildren: Kim (Troy) Norvell, Kristie (Mark) Smith, Jill Lakes, Jason (Tina) Shaffer, Jean (Mike) Duggan, Renee (Troy) Ashcraft, Kari (Derek) Lee, Kendra (Kurt) Thompson and Kortney (Brian) Nester; 17 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 11:00 am until time of funeral service at 1:00 pm at Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street in Eaton, OH with Pastor Rodney Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris. Memorial contributions may be sent to the New Paris Park, New Paris Village or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
