Donald Joe Devers, age 73, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday afternoon, August 28, 2021. Don was born on July 17, 1948, to Charles and Wilma (Hoskins) Devers in Richmond Indiana. He grew up in Centerville and graduated from Centerville High School in 1966. The summer following graduation Don enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served until his retirement in 1990.

On December 15, 1968, he married Judy Ellen Fortner, and thanks to the US Navy they lived throughout the world and the United States. They had two sons Justin R. Devers and Donald Joe Devers II. Don was a faithful member of The Pentecostal Tabernacle and loved spending time in God’s Word at home and in the church. Many deep and long-lasting friendships were built during his time at The Pentecostal Tabernacle.

Don is survived and missed by his wife of 53 years, Judy: their son Justin wife Erika Devers of Holly Springs NC, his grandsons Cameron Devers of Holly Springs NC, Tanner wife Amber Smith and great-grandson Austin Smith of Somerset KY, grandsons and granddaughters Davey Lewsader, Joey Lewsader, Destiny Devers and Donald Joe (JD) Devers III of Clinton IN, and Amanda Devers of Hanford CA, his siblings Terry and wife Mary Devers, Charles (Chuck) Devers, Sister Connie husband Mike McGuire, Brother Scott wife Jackie Devers, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Don is preceded in death by his son Donald Joe Devers II, his father Charles Devers, and his mother Wilma Kirtley.

Visitation with Don and his family will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at The Pentecostal Tabernacle, 480 W Eaton Pike, Richmond In, 47374. The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Tyler Luck at 12:30 pm on Thursday, September 9, 2021. Burial with Military Honors will be at Goshen Cemetery IN-227, Richmond, IN 47374 following the service. Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
