Doris Anne Vaughn, age 86, of Richmond passed away peacefully Saturday (January 26, 2019) at The Springs of Richmond. Doris was born in New Paris, Ohio, on December 15, 1932, to Oran Cleo and Audrey Marie Fitzwater Alexander.
Doris graduated from RHS in 1950. Shortly after high school, Doris married Horace Eugene “Gene” Vaughn at the US Naval Base Chapel in San Diego on May 25, 1952. Doris enjoyed music, leather craft, computers, art and playing cards with groups of friends. Doris held various office positions throughout the years and worked with her son in a family restoration business. Doris was a member of First Christian Church. She was the treasurer and an active member of Faith-Trinity United Methodist Church for over 30 years until the church dissolved.
Survivors include children Gary Eugene (Melanie) Vaughn and Gregory Dale (Kimberlee) Vaughn; grandchildren Joshua Stephen (Aimee) Vaughn, Christina Danielle (Dustin) Schaefer, Jessica Kaitlin Vaughn and Jacob Andrew Vaughn; great grandchildren Ian Andrew Schaefer and Sabina Jean Vaughn; and special companion-dog “Missy.” She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Gene; and son Gaylen Glenn Vaughn.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday (February 9, 2019) at Alliance Bible Church, formerly shared with Faith-Trinity United Methodist Church (2900 West Main Street). Pastor Reuben Dunckel will officiate. Family and friends may call on Saturday (February 9, 2019) from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the church. Entombment will be in Earlham Mausoleum. Family would like to thank the staff at Arbor Trace Assisted Living, The Springs of Richmond and Aseracare Hospice.
