Doris G. Rawlings, 98, of Connersville passed away early Saturday morning, June 30, 2018, at Friends Fellowship Community, Richmond.
One of four children of Burley and Bertha Wyne Conwell, Doris was born in Modoc, Indiana on December 2, 1919, and graduated from Moreland High School.
On April 7, 1939, she married Chet Rawlings at her home in Mooreland, Indiana. They made Connersville their home following marriage. Mr. Rawlings survives.
During World War II, Doris worked as an office keypunch at Avco. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Connersville where she taught the Cornerstone Class for many years. She served in the church and community as pianist and organist for over 50 years. Doris was a former member of Connersville Country Club, Bridge Club, Kings Daughters Club, and Minerva Club. Following retirement, she and Chet enjoyed traveling throughout the world.
In addition to her husband of over 79 years, Chet Rawlings, survivors include a daughter, Suzette (Robert) Powell of Richmond; three grandchildren, Shayna (Alan) Duncan of South Elgin, Illinois, Polly (Mark) Stead of Plainfield, Indiana, and Nathan (Ashley) Powell of Olive Branch, Mississippi; eight great-grandchildren, Alexandria Hawn, Elizabeth and Tharyn Duncan, Isabelle, Lydia, and Isaac Stead, Noelle and Silas Powell; and a great-great-granddaughter, Zoey Powell.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dean Earl Rawlings; two brothers, Francis and Harold Conwell; and a sister, Winifred Harlan.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, 1704 N. Grand Avenue, Connersville, Indiana. Pastor Mal Gibson will officiate. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery.
