CAMBRIDGE CITY – Dorothy M. Walters, 95, passed away Tuesday morning January 8, 2019, at the home of her daughter in Indianapolis.
A daughter of the late Wesley C. and Anna L. (Douglas) Todd, Dorothy was born in New Castle, Indiana, on December 5, 1923. She resided in Cambridge City from 1943 until the time of her move to Indianapolis in 1989.
Dorothy had worked as a cashier and hardware clerk at Sears and received several awards and recognitions in the “Circle of Honor-Best of the Best” for sales goals and quotas. She also worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse and was employed by Henry County Hospital and area doctors.
As a young lady, Dorothy was a member of Motor Maids of Indiana motorcycle group and enjoyed riding her Triumph. In her leisure, Dorothy liked going to the casino and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Indianapolis.
Survivors include 2 children, Lisa D. (Walters) Jones of Indianapolis and Larry E. (wife, Thelma) Walters of Dublin; 1 granddaughter, Lynn Adams; 2 great-granddaughters, Paige Goldey and Jessica Adams; 1 great-great grandson, Jace Goldey; 1 brother, Wayne Todd of Dublin.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Walters, whom she married in Richmond on August 16, 1941. He passed away on January 28, 1986; 3 siblings, Leon Todd, Wilma Meyer and Rubye (Todd) Jones; son in-law, Buddy Jones.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday January 14, 2019, at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City. Memorial services will follow Monday evening at 7 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 10701 E. 56th St., Indianapolis. The Rev. Richard Salazar will officiate. Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin, is handling arrangements.
