CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Duane Leslie Smoker, age 76, of Centerville, Indiana, died Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Reid Health.

Born February 8, 1940, in Richmond, Indiana, to Clifford and Mary Jane Conway Smoker, Duane lived in this community most of his life.

He was a lifetime farmer. Duane was a member of the Abington Township Fire Department for 21 years, serving as Chief for four years. He served as a board member of REMC for 26 years and the Abington Township Board of Trustees for eight years. Duane was a member of the Whitewater Valley Antique Truck and Tractor Club and many other agricultural and farming clubs and boards. He was a member of the Abington Christian Church. Duane was a tractor enthusiast.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Wiggs Smoker; daughter, Sharon A. (David) Stevenson of Cookeville, Tennessee; son, Gail R. Smoker of Abington, Indiana; grandchildren, David A. (Jenna) Smoker, Brittaney L. (Stephen) Sawyer, Jacob Stevenson, Sarah (Darin) Smoker Lucas, and Jessica Smoker; great-grandchildren; sister, Carol (Bud) Parrish of Abington; nieces; nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Robert D. Smoker.

Visitation for Duane L. Smoker was from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Bud Parrish officiating.

Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery.
