Dwight R. Grant, 71, of Liberty, died Saturday, November 23, 2019, at his residence.

Dwight was born to Elmer and Ida Mae Purcell Grant on July 14, 1948, in Connersville. On July 26, 1969, in Connersville, he married Nancy L. Allen, and they had two daughters.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richmond, where he served on the board of trustees, he also belonged to the Warren Masonic Lodge #15 F&AM. Dwight enjoyed wood working, fishing, gardening, trips to Kiawah Island, South Carolina. He also enjoyed I.U. sports, watching sporting events, being near bodies of water, but most of all being with family and friends.

Dwight received his education; a bachelor’s degree from Indiana Central College, now University of Indianapolis and a Masters Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. He built beautiful quality homes in Indianapolis, Connersville and Richmond, prior to becoming a building trades instructor at Whitewater Technical Career Center, he retired in 2014.

Dwight is survived by his wife Nancy; two daughters: Leanne Suttles and her husband Tim of Sidney, Ohio; Elizabeth Black and her husband Michael of Richmond; grandchildren: Tyler White, Aaron Suttles, Morgan Suttles, Meranda Suttles, Kiele Suttles, Keona Suttles, MaKaila Suttles, Lily Black, Ella Black; seven great-grandchildren; a brother: Joseph Grant of Indianapolis; a sister Kathy Murrell and her husband Richard of Indianapolis; several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Ida Mae.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2019 at First Baptist Church, 1601 South A. Street, Richmond.
