WILLIAMSBURG, Ind. – Eddie L. Atkinson, age 71, of Williamsburg, Indiana, died peacefully Thursday, January 17, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 12, 1947, in Monticello, Kentucky, to Edgar Gleason and Marie Raines Atkinson, Eddie was a life-long resident of Brown and Wayne County. He was a 1966 graduate of Richmond High School. Eddie retired from Fletcher Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Franklin, Indiana, where he worked as a service manager. Following his retirement, Eddie worked at Meijer in Richmond for six and a half years. He was a member of the Richmond Conservation Club, where he served on the board. Eddie enjoyed wood working, gardening, and shooting sports and was an avid Harley rider.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sharon Legear Atkinson; sons, Brian (Amy) Atkinson of Williamsburg and Thomas (Donna) Atkinson of Nineveh, Indiana; grandchildren, Dustin Atkinson (McWhinney), Clayton Atkinson, and Wade Thomas Atkinson; mother, Marie Atkinson of Fountain City, Indiana; sister, Betty (Keith Sullivan) Atkinson of Fountain City; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A Celebration of Life service for Eddie L. Atkinson will be announced by the family at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
