Edwin “Ray” Miller, age 96, of Centerville, Indiana, died Friday, April 27, 2018, at Reid Health.
Born April 30, 1921, in Monticello, Kentucky, to John Perry and Ermon Craig Miller, Ray lived in this community most of his life. He was a graduate of Monticello High School. Ray served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He formerly worked as a quality control engineer at AVCO for 27 years and retired as a purchasing agent from Kemper Cabinets. Ray was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richmond for over 50 years and Richmond Lodge No.196, F. & A.M. for over 60 years. He was very active in sports and was a basketball referee.
Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly S. (Shon) Fisher of Greens Fork, Indiana; sons, Terry R. (Vickie) Miller and Tracy Alan Miller, both of Richmond; grandchildren, Staci Renee Saylor, Lance Justin Miller, Brandon Alan Miller, Tierra Stewart, Brihanna Fisher, and Raquel Miller; great-grandchildren, Ashlee Jennings, Chelsea Saylor, and Dylan and Gabrielle Grimes; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Irene Miller, who died January 30, 2017; parents; and siblings, Ralph, James Hill, Carl Dee, John, Bobby, and Mary Kitty Miller, Joyce Decker, and Nancy Milton.
Visitation, a Masonic Service and the funeral were Tuesday at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond, officiated by the Rev. Steve Whalen. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
