Elinor G. Troupe, 95, of New Castle passed away Friday, October 16, 2020 at Heritage House of New Castle. She was born February 3, 1925 in Norristown, PA to the late William and Daisy (Gaynor) Garrett.

She graduated from Eisenhower High School in Norristown, PA. Elinor married John Troupe on December 25, 1949 in Broomall, PA; they were married 33 years before his passing in 1982. She has been a resident of New Castle since 1950. Affectionately known as “Grandma Ellie” to everyone, she was a volunteer with the Foster Grandparent Program for many years. Elinor had been a member of First Presbyterian Church since the 1950’s. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, cooking and playing cards, especially Skip-Bo.

She is survived by her daughters, Candace Hiler of New Castle, Pamela Campton of New Castle; 5 grandchildren, Angela Coulson, Rusty (Atysha) Campton, “Sunny” Sunshine Hiler, Monica Goen and Jodie Campton; great-grandchildren, Chad, Caleb, Jonathon (Nikki), Jordan, Stormee, Garrett, Austin, Alissa, Cheyanne, Mashayla, Tristan, Camren; great great grandchildren, Kennedy, Dawson, Alaina, Lincoln, Ella, Abby, Isla and Elias; sister, Daisy Beck of Harrisburg, PA; good friend, Dr. Randall Fields and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Troupe; a son, Mark Alan Troupe; sister, Geraldine Shepps and a brother, William Garrett.

Services will be at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Chaplain Mark Herbkersman officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. Due to COVID-19 and the governor’s mandate, face coverings will be required. Memorial contributions may be made to the Foster Grandparent Program. Burial will be at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition at a later date.
