Frank Douglas “Doug” Stegner, 72, a lifelong resident of Connersville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, March 29, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 11, 1949 in Connersville, one of four children of Frank and Verabelle Henry Stegner, and he was a 1967 graduate of Connersville High School.

A proud veteran, he served his country in the United States Army.

In August of 1968, he was married to Sharon Kaye Holmes of Connersville. Mrs. Stegner passed away October 30, 2020.

Doug was employed at H.H. Robertson, D&M, and retired from Stant Manufacturing.

He had been a member of the American Legion, AMVETS, V.F.W., the 40&8, and Moose Lodge.

In his leisure, he enjoyed reading, watching Western movies, and being with his pet cat, “Buddy”.

Survivors include two children, Heather (Larry) Lucas and Molli (Ed Roberts) Taylor, both of Connersville; a daughter-in-law, Angela Stegner of Greenfield, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Nicholas (Chelsea) Lucas, Nathaniel (Shanna) Lucas, Ethan (Sammi) Taylor, Erica (John Rosen) Taylor, and Peyton Taylor, all of Connersville, Dalton (Mary Beth) Stegner, Megan Lucas, and Riley Stegner, all of Indianapolis; two step-grandchildren, Jarrod Roberts of Connersville and Morgan Roberts of Richmond; a sister, Shelley of Florida; and seven great grandchildren. He is also blessed with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his wife of 52 years, Sharon Kaye Stegner, Doug was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Darren Stegner, who passed away April 27, 2021; two sisters, Rena Jo Watson and Virginia Stegner; and a great granddaughter, Ivy Isabelle Lucas.

Family and friends will celebrate Doug’s life at a later date. Interment will be at Dale Cemetery. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
