Franklin J. “Bob” Sayre, 92, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at The Waters of New Castle. He was born August 13, 1929 in Saratoga, Indiana, a son of the late Franklin L. and Mary L. (Harris) Sayre.
Bob retired from Delco Remy in Anderson, after 32 years of service and had farmed on the family farm from 1963 – 1983. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Bob enjoyed woodworking, making many Christmas presents and semis for the boys.
Survivors include his children, Melanie L. Johnson of New Castle, Steven F. Sayre (Angie Bookout) of Mooreland, Kelly J.(Patty) Sayre of Greenfield and Eddie (Vickie) Manifold of Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; 1 brother; 3 sisters; and 2 sisters-in-law.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wives, Betty Jane (Manifold) Sayre and Ruth M. (Bond) Waltz Sayre; 6 brothers, 1 sister and 1 grandson.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the donor’s choice.
