CENTERVILLE, Ind. – George W. Goble, age 95, of Centerville, Indiana, died Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Friends Fellowship Community.
Born February 2, 1922, in Urbana, Illinois, to George Washington and Roberta Lee Sonner Goble, George lived in Centerville most of his life.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. George was a 1948 graduate of University of Illinois, having earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. He moved to Centerville in 1952 from Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. George was a dairy farmer for 14 years before becoming owner of Centerville NPK, a chemical fertilizer company in Centerville.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Lucille Serepinas Goble; son, George H. Goble of West Lafayette, Indiana; grandson, Cody Warner of New York, New York; son-in-law, Michael Warner of Banner Elk, North Carolina; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Warner, who died April 2017; parents; sisters, Elizabeth F. Jonson and June H. Monger; and brother, Thomas S. Goble.
Private graveside service for George W. Goble will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery Veterans Field of Honor. Arrangements are being handled by Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville.
