Grace Apsley, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 24 at Arbor Trace in Richmond.
Grace was born in Combs, Kentucky on February 5, 1935, the daughter of Mack and Martha Stidham Stewart, both of whom preceded her in death.
Grace had formerly worked for Western Union, where she was an assistant manager, and later worked at Knollenberg’s in Richmond. Much of her time was devoted to her family. She loved sports and enjoyed watching her husband play softball and keeping game stats. She enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s activities through the years as well. She liked to play BINGO and enjoyed being creative with her painting and coloring.
Grace will be missed by her husband of 58 years, Alton Apsley; daughters, Tina Ashcraft and April Sheldon & her husband, Greg; son & daughter-in-law, Jim & Sherri Apsley; grandchildren, Lindsey Blanford & husband, Brandon; Zach Turner & fiancée, Celeste Dillman; Skyler Ashcraft & fiancée, Sidney Hetisimer; Casey Fleming & husband, Ben; Logan Apsley & fiancée, Cierra Spicer; Lindsey Sheldon, Brittany Chesnut & husband, Joe; Larisah Etheridge & fiancé, Patrick; great-grandchildren, Larkin Rush, Meeya Rush, Zayleigh Turner, Waylon Ashcraft, Maverick Fleming, Gunner Fleming and Bricker Sheldon; special friends, Ronnie & Bonnie Glaub and several nieces & nephews.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Herb Stewart, Doc Stewart, Cleve Stewart, Edna Henthorn, Marie Walton, Ruth Ridgeway, June Hibbard and two infant siblings.
Grace’s life will be celebrated at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, January 28 at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City.
Family and friends may gather from 3-6 pm on Tuesday, January 28, at the funeral home.
