Henrietta Joyce Ripberger, 83, of Connersville passed away peacefully on Monday morning, April 29, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at her home.

One of three children of Henry David and Matilda Ann Schmidt Brunsman, Henrietta was born in Connersville on March 15, 1936. She attended St. Gabriel School and graduated from Oldenburg Academy of the Immaculate Conception with the class of 1954.

On April 4, 1959, Henrietta married John E. Ripberger in St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Mr. Ripberger passed away on August 12, 2003.

From 1976 through 1983, Henrietta was employed in the Fayette County Auditor’s Office as 1st Deputy under Auditor Maxine Richardson. In 1984, she was elected City Clerk-Treasurer, serving five terms until 2003 when she was appointed as a City Council Member. Earlier, Henrietta was employed at Schlichte Grocery Store.

Active in local Democratic politics, Henrietta was a Democratic Central Committee Member and a member of the Fayette County Democratic Womens Club.

A faithful member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Henrietta served as treasurer for Golden Gabriels, was a member of St. Ann Altar Society, the Daughters of Isabella and on the Bereavement Committee. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society and AARP.

Survivors include her companion for 15 years, Timothy J. Clark of Connersville; two daughters, Joyce Ann (Mike) Ruckel of Muncie, Indiana and Dianna Kay Caudle of Greenfield, Indiana; three grandchildren, Nick (Cassidy) Ruckel of Nashville, Tennessee, Natalie (Devin) Browning of Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, and Brent Caudle of Connersville; a great-grandson, Liam Browning; and a nephew, Patrick Ripberger of Richmond, Indiana.

Besides her husband of 44 years, John Ripberger, Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Mark Anthony Ripberger; a sister, Patricia Ann Ripberger; and an infant brother, Edward Francis Brunsman.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Dustin Boehm at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church where the rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. with visitation to follow until the time of service. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
