Howard Wayne Orr, age 87 passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021, in New Castle, Indiana.
Wayne was born near Millville, Indiana, April 27, 1934 and lived in New Castle most of his life.
He attended New Castle, Millville, and Greensboro schools, and worked at the Chrysler factory retiring in 1987. He was a member of the local U.A.W, Chrysler Credit Union, and Loyal Order of the Moose for 60 years. He was past-President of the Indiana Moose Association earning the Pilgrim Degree of Merit, the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a member. He was the loving husband of Marilyn Jackson Orr whom he married on June 18, 1955. Wayne and Marilyn loved to travel. Their favorite places included New Orleans, Hawaii, and Australia but his favorite place was home in what he called the “house on the hill” on Columbus Street where they have lived since 1956.
Wayne was the father of children, Lisa Jo Clark, Julie Kay Orr-Kirk, Mark Sean Orr (Pam Choate-Orr), and Kevin Wayne Orr (Lisa Huber-Orr). He has several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Obediah and Gladys Sylvania Dinkins Orr; brothers, Carl Eugene “Pinky”, Herman ‘Red”, Harold Jr., Philip, and Melvin Parker Orr; sisters, Lavera Bennett and Betty June Bow; daughter-in-law, Lisa Huber Orr and son-in-law, Rick Kirk.
The Orr family has a wagon wheel that is presented as a tradition at the funeral of each family member. Each time a member dies, flowers are taken from a spoke. Wayne’s is the last spoke and now the circle is complete in heaven.
The viewing is Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 4:00p.m., until 8p.m., at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad Street, New Castle. Funeral Services will be at held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Batson Cemetery. 1212 S CR 250 E., New Castle.
