J.M. Forrest, 95, of Hagerstown, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 16, 2018, at The Springs of Richmond.
He was born near Hagerstown on July 5, 1922 to Claude Leon and Opal May (Laudig) Forrest and was a life long resident of the Hagerstown area. On December 24, 1946 he married Georgia Elinor Timmons and she preceded him in death in 1997.
J was a graduate of Hagerstown High School, attended Butler University and was a member of Congregational Christian Church, UCC. He served with the Marine Corps. He was a life long farmer and former used car dealer.
Survivors include three children, Thomas L. Crome (Diane) of Austin, TX, Gayle Forrest of Hagerstown and Alisa A. Brown (Jeffrey) of Richmond; a sister, Jane Alice Tanner of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Thomas Crome, Jr., Holly Jo Forrest, Rebecca G. Cate, Megan Coleman, Travis Forrest and Natalee Brock; seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Griffin; a brother, Bobby G. Forrest and a great-grandson, Bennett Coleman.
Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM on Friday, April 20, at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Services will follow at 2:00 PM. Pastor Rick Alvey will officiate. Burial will be in Brick Cemetery.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to American Heart Association.
