Mr. Jack O’Neil Anderson, Sr., 83, of Fountain City, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, January 14.

Jack was born in Wayne County, Indiana on April 14, 1935 to Fred A. Sr. and Aletha Ruth Bryan Anderson. He was a 1953 graduate of Williamsburg High School and married the former Aleatta Abraham on June 14, 1953. They were blessed with three children and 53 years of marriage before her death on April 22, 2007.

Jack was a hard-working industrious man his entire life. He formerly worked for Perfect Circle and International Harvester before gaining his independence. He was a former representative for Chore Boy, a well driller, welder and former owner of JR’s Gutter Services in Fountain City.

He was a member of Circle X for over 50 years and was known for his horseshoe art. He attended Whosoever Ministries.

He was approaching his 50th year of Masonic brotherhood and was a member and past president of the Fountain City Lions Club. He loved life and was always making people laugh and smile. Jack always had a soft spot for kids and was a leader of the Family Diner Liar’s Table gang that braved the winter weather every year to wish Northeastern students a MERRY CHRISTMAS as they kicked off their Christmas Break.

Jack will be missed by his daughter, Lynn Anderson, grandchildren, Craig Schneider, Amy Yates, Tina Anderson and Brea Craig. He was adored by his great-grandchildren, Brittney Schneider, Jordan Yates, Dustin O’Neil Schneider, Corbyn Davis, Charlee Craig, Conner Craig, Chase Craig and Chloe Craig; and his great-great-grandchildren, Alecxavier Bussinger and Haley Bussinger, all of whom called him “Apple Jack”. Also surviving are his sisters, Bernetta Jeffries and Yvonne Lanter; brothers, Junior Anderson, Roger Anderson and Bill Anderson; his special friend, Peggy and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Jack O’Neil Anderson, Jr.; daughter, Angela Joyce Thompson; grandchildren, Christopher O’Neil Anderson and Annette Diane Anderson; brother, Terrence Anderson.

Jack’s life will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18 at the Fountain City Wesleyan Church, 5600 US 27 North, with Denver Conway officiating. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.

Family and friends may gather from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, at the church.

Jack and his family are appreciative of the care extended by Reid Health Hospice.

Memorial contributions are encouraged for the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Riley Hospital for Children.
