Janice Elaine “Jan” Hunt, age 80, of New Paris, Ohio, died Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Reid Health.
Born October 6, 1940, in Richmond, Indiana, to Alfred and Elizabeth Sims Smith, Jan was a life-long resident of this area. She retired from Holiday Inn, where she worked in sales and had previously served as the manager of New Life Fitness Center for 20 years. Jan was a member of Journey Life Center. She also belonged to the American Business Women’s Association. Jan was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling, including visiting historical sites and national parks. She loved spending time with her friends and above all, her family.
Survivors include her fiancé, Ralph Dungan of New Paris; daughters, Joy (Ken) Mackey of Hagerstown, Indiana, and Renee (Ron) Oakley of Lynn, Indiana; grandsons, Caleb and Rob Mackey; great-grandchildren, Natasha Hopkins and Noah Stonebraker; brothers, Elmer Wilmot and Earl and Bill Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harold Robert Hunt, who died July 3, 2017; granddaughter, Sandy Oakley Hopkins; and parents.
Visitation for Janice Elaine “Jan” Hunt will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastors Michael and Jennifer Stonebraker officiating. Burial will be in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris.
