Jeannette L. Stapleton, 85, passed away Thursday evening May 3, 2018 at her home in Dublin with her loving family at her side. A daughter of the late Owen and Myrtle (Gustin) Matney, Jeannette was born in Henry County, Indiana on February 19, 1933. Jeannette was raised in Henry County and graduated from New Lisbon High School with the class of 1951. She had worked at the Henry County Courthouse for a brief time following graduation. Jeannette was then employed as a waitress for Welliver’s Restaurant in Hagerstown, retiring after more than forty years of service. She has made her home in Dublin since 1955. In her leisure, Jeannette enjoyed spending time with family, cook-outs, reading, watching western movies and sports on the television.
Survivors include her 4 children, Ricky L. Stapleton of Dublin, Cindy L. (Randall) Sparks of Muncie, Vicki A. George of Brookville and Bruce (Karen) Stapleton of Hagerstown; 5 grandchildren, Ricky L. Jr. and Chris Stapleton, Tricia Ingram, Kendra L. Bills and Chris Drake; 6 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Gerald and Marvin Matney; 1 sister, Deloris Bennett; nieces and nephews.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Stapleton on February 22, 1996. They were married on February 12, 1955. 3 siblings, Myron Matney, Eileen Neal and infant Gerald.
