Jerry Lee Templin, age 87, of Richmond, Indiana, died Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Friends Fellowship Community.

Born January 14, 1935, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Frank C. and Janet E. Russell Templin, Jerry lived in Richmond most of his life. He was a 1953 graduate of Richmond High School and attended Purdue University from 1953-1955. Jerry served in the U.S. Army, being honorably discharged as a sergeant in September 1961. He retired from Morrisson-Reeves Library in 2000, where he was Manager of Building and Grounds. Jerry had previously been the general manager at John E. Beals & Associates for many years and had worked for Richmond Community Schools. He was a member of Middleboro United Methodist Church in Richmond. Additionally, Jerry was a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and served in the color guard with the Indiana Military Heritage Honor Guard, where he enjoyed participating in re-enactments and with the lead unit in parades. Jerry was a former YMCA board chairman for Camp Clements. He also belonged to the Y’s Men Club, Richmond Noon Lions Club, National Rifle Association, and Richmond Conservation Club and was an honorary life member of Old Trails Rifle and Pistol Club. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann Reel Templin; children, Lee Ann (Terry) Dunlap of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Glen A. (Molly) Templin of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren, Lindsey (Steve) Boyer of Madison, Alabama, Katie Dunlap of Indianapolis, Indiana, Megan (Yousef) Elhabrush of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lydia (M.J.) McPeek of Castle Rock, Colorado, Forrest (Lauren) Templin of Parker, Colorado, Bergen Templin of Phoenix, Arizona, and Hadley Templin of Aurora; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Connor, and Makenzie Boyer of Madison, Sadie Elhabrush of Colorado Springs, and Keller McPeek of Castle Rock; brother-in-law, James Crecelius of Indianapolis; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandra Crecelius.

Visitation for Jerry Lee Templin will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Chaplain Christopher Suder officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery’s Veteran’s Field of Honor with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
