Jesse “Sonny” Boggs, 87, of Centerville died Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Ambassador Health Care after a lengthy illness.
He was born December 6, 1931, in Centerville to Jesse Allen and Eva Storie Boggs and lived here all his life.
He retired from Visteon in 1988 after working 33 years. He was an Army veteran and a member of Freedom Baptist Church.
He enjoyed drinking coffee with his buddies at Stuckey’s and the Abington General Store. He loved his family, especially being with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, June, who he married December 22, 1958, his daughter Julie Ann (Todd) Suttle of Richmond, his step son Jerry (Dixie) Gabbard of Richmond, six grandchildren Natasha (Jake) Knight, Danny Boggs, Howard, Lyndsey Boggs, Amy and Jason Gabbard, one great grandchild Shelly Boggs, two sisters Rusty Gethers of Richmond and Ruby German of California, nieces and nephews.
His son Danny died in 2010, his parents, one brother Dorman, and two sisters Juanita Henry and Ruth Johnson are also deceased.
Funeral services were from 1:00 P.M. Friday December 8, 2017, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Dr. William D. Rheuble officiating. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery with military rites. Friends called from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
