Joe C. Purcell, age 88, of Centerville, Indiana, died Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Pineknoll Rehabilitation Centre in Winchester, Indiana.
Joe was born March 7, 1933, in Mount Vernon, Kentucky, to Simmie and Mary Tudor Purcell. He began working at AVCO at the age of 17 and was employed there until it closed. After retiring, Joe owned and managed several small businesses. He enjoyed working and was a hard worker throughout his lifetime.
Survivors include his son, Travis Lawson of Richmond; grandchildren, Kayla Purcell of Richmond and Shawn Purcell of Muncie, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Jaden, Bentley, Carson, and Harper; brothers, Robert and Jack Purcell, both of California; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends, including Virginia Mullins of Centerville.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joey Purcell; parents; and brothers, Frank, Donald, and Jesse Purcell.
Visitation for Joe C. Purcell will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021, at Mills Funeral Home with Chaplain Rick Alvey officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
