CAMBRIDGE CITY – John Edgar Hatfield, 88, passed away Monday January 8, 2018 at Rosebud Village in Richmond.
He was born on March 5, 1929 in Kirby Knob, Kentucky to the late Millard and Sarah Margaret (Sparks) Hatfield. John moved to Harrisburg, Indiana when he was 16 years old, and has made his home in Cambridge City for the past 68 years.
He worked as a Hi-Lo driver at Electrolux and its predecessors D&M and W.C.I.. John was a member of the Wayne County Coon Hunters Club, enjoyed, raccoon and squirrel hunting, fishing, cutting wood, and spending time in the woods.
John is survived by his wife of 23 years, the former Joan Shelton, whom he married March 3, 1994 in Milton; four children, Rodney (Casey) McCracken of Centerville, Scott (Della) McCracken of Cambridge City, Jeremy (Mendi) McCracken of Cambridge City, Angela (Roger) Mathews of Hagerstown; several grand and great-grand children; and one sister, Twila Navarra of Greenfield.
John was preceded in death by four sons, Frank, Gaylen, and Ronnie Hatfield and Timothy Michael McCracken; and four siblings, Lester, David, and Lloyd Hatfield, and Freda Miracle.
Visitation for John will be held on Thursday January 11th from 4-8 p.m. at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Following cremation, a committal service at West Lawn Cemetery in Hagerstown will take place at the convenience of the family.
